My name is Deonne and I am a bad blogger.

Ok, maybe not a bad blogger, more of an inconsistent one. Be that as it may, here I am today!

Fae Song is now also available in an audiobook format and is available from Amazon, Audible and iTunes. For folks in the US, you can download it here and folks in the UK can download it here.

Matthew Lyon has been a fabulous choice for narrator. His style and voicing of my characters allowed me to pull back as an author and just listen to the story. I have a whole new appreciation for voice acting and how different an audio experience of a book is from reading (or writing!) it.

 Hi there,

I saw a post today from a friend stating that the temperature had dropped to 55 degrees overnight and that this morning you could feel summer and fall beginning their collision.

All I could think of was how absolutely jealous of her I felt. My family moved to Florida when I was fifteen and the hardest thing, even all these years later, is the atrocious heat of the summers. Worse yet, Florida summer in my area begins in mid-April and is still going strong in mid-October.

Don't get me wrong, the winters here are amazing, the sunsets can't be beat and it is never more than 75 miles to a beach. But ugh, the heat!

To paraphrase Gollum: "I hates it, I hates it forever!" Ok, off my silly little soapbox.

Have you ever experienced a friend telling you years after the fact that a particular action helped set them on a path

they still keep following today?

That happened to me over the weekend due to a (old /cough) photo of myself along with three very good friends all dressed up as 17th century English cavaliers being shared. Aside from our obvious youth, I noted in I had personally made every item of clothing in the picture with the exception of one friend's. I had helped him draft and fit a pattern but he had done all of the sewing himself. He commented that my help and encouragement had set him on the track that included becoming a Master of the Laurel in the Society for Creative Anachronism. I was both floored and flattered since at the time I was just glad to help a friend learn to do something new.

If there is a moral to be drawn from my tale, it's to try to be mindful of our actions but also never think that anything you do is too small to help or influence another.

Stay golden.

As some of you may be aware, I live on the sandbar that is known as Florida.

During a good part of the year it is a wonderful place to be, while everyone is dealing with ice and snow, we are basking in balmy temperatures. Sometimes those balmy temperatures even get a little chilly, but rarely does it freeze. I have an entire hoodie collection and each shirt probably gets worn once a year.

Now however, summer is here and that is a different matter entirely.

When you go outside, you feel you could literally gather the air in a bucket, carry it inside, dry it out and then maybe you can breathe it. I'm pretty much convinced that all third generation Floridians should be born with gills. Oh and the summer thunderstorms - Florida is the lightning strike capital of the world. I didn't know lightning alarms existed until I lived here.

I want to live somewhere that year round where the highs never get above 70 and the lows never get below 30.

I know, I'm dreaming, but dreams are important.

Stay golden

Life is too short...

Frankly, life is too short for a lot of things and it has a way of ending whenever it pleases with no concern about our thoughts on the matter.

I think life is too short to suffer cheap jelly. Don't settle for the store brand grape jelly, go for different flavors and brands. Blackberry preservers on a flaky biscuit, an orange marmalade sandwich for lunch or cherry preserves on toast at midnight.

Spend a little time looking at jellies and preserves the next time you go to the grocery store, there is a lot of adventure and yum there.

Life is short but it is wide.

Stay golden.

It has been awhile since I have blogged. Knowing myself as I do, the most regular thing about me blogging will be the irregularity of posting.

I was reading through some of the issues many of our fellow humans are going through right now due to the pandemic. There are a lot of them but they all can lead to feeling sad or defeated.

Getting through upsets in jobs, family members being apart, regular social interaction changed or discontinued, there is a lot going on and it is hard on everyone going through them.

Then I remembered this scene from Grey's Anatomy.

I'm going to spend five minutes tomorrow morning in the superhero pose. Let's all try it, maybe it will be a better day.
